"I had seen posters of my seniors in college who had cracked the GATE exam. In the first year of B.Tech, I had no plans to attempt GATE but in the second year, I thought I should give it a try. My seniors told me about Dr. Ankush Mittal Sir. He takes coaching classes for GATE aspirants in his coaching center known as Raman classes. Initially, I decided to do self-study for the first six months. I started my preparations. My batchmates were getting trained under Ankush Mittal Sir. I looked at their study material and their preparation. I was impressed and I joined his classes to study in a more structured manner. I took his classes for one year. The beauty of GATE is that your college syllabus and GATE syllabus is the same but the only difference is GATE syllabus is a little wider and covers more topics. I didn't have to juggle much between my college studies and GATE preparations. It never felt I was involved in two different things.

I never feared to clear the exam because all my seniors who took classes from Ankush Sir always told me to just follow what he taught and I had seen the results of his teaching as all his students were getting good marks. So, I always had this hope that no matter what, if I will follow him, I'll crack the exam anyhow.

Since we had no time for extracurricular activities, Ankush Sir had an arrangement of sports of all sorts so that we could get some leisure time because we were exhausted after studying. We used to play there for two to three hours before going back home. I'd like to suggest all the aspirants continue with their extracurricular activities because these activities keep your mind fresh and help you in concentrating.

The main challenge for all the GATE aspirants is that when the exam day arrives, we get so nervous that we are not able to perform up to the mark. The nervousness takes us down. I'd like to suggest all the GATE aspirants exercise yoga every day while you're preparing for the exam. This will help you in concentrating more. Your mind will relax and your performance will not be affected. Also, make a schedule and be consistent with your studies. All these things helped me crack the GATE exam and I bagged 29th rank all over India.

Ankush Sir made sure that we're prepared for our interviews too. He took our mock interviews which helped me gain confidence and when I appeared for my first interview, I was confident enough. My seniors also helped me before appearing in the interview. They gave thousands of tips.

The main thing I've learned is the discipline in life. If you're disciplined, you can achieve whatever you want to. Whatever you do, make a time table and maintain consistency.

I'd like to advise all the parents to not pressurize their children if they've scored less in one or two exams. Motivate your child as much as you can because motivation helps a lot in getting better results."
